Landscape Design is currently looking to recruit a Ground Maintenance Contracts Manager to join our team based in the Central region.

Being based within our Landscapes Division the Ground Maintenance Contracts Manager will report to the Operations Director and be responsible for successfully managing and leading the relevant regional team whilst ensuring the growth and profitable operation of area.

Role responsibilities for the Ground Maintenance Contracts Manager will include, but will not be limited to:

  • The Contracts manager must ensure they implement a positive health and safety culture
  • The Contracts Manager will be efficiently and cost effectively managing and developing the contract portfolios
  • Analysing current contracts and assess their ongoing contribution to the profitable operation of the region, controlling and minimising risk.
  • The Contract Manager needs to assist with contract re-negotiations where necessary to ensure success and growth with the existing client base.
  • The Contracts Manager will need to ensure they are managing and developing a professional and effective operational team, ensuring objectives are set, monitored and achieved and that all employees are appraised and have a personal development plan.
  • Meeting and/or exceeding financial targets is a must for the Contracts Manager position.
  • Ensuring that all scheduled and reactive visits and any KPI’s are met for the portfolio*

Key Skills & Experience need for the Contracts Manager position:

  • Experience of running a manpower based operation with grounds maintenance or landscaping
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Proven experience in: undertaking budge setting and demonstrate appropriate financial management: analysing information and make local improvements based on factual evidence: problem solving and issue resolution: run gritting contracts would be beneficial: leading, motivating and managing a team effectively.

The role is divided into two key components: delivering consistent grounds maintenance service and acquiring and managing additional business.

A Contracts Manager’s management of his directly employed staff will be a critical success factor to delivering grounds maintenance work on-time to the specified standard. Key Responsibilities will be:

  • Recruiting and training Field Teams in “Ways of Working” and expected quality standards
  • Providing management reports
  • Accurately price new maintenance sites under tender
  • Identify, price and supervise additional works on existing grounds maintenance sites

Our ideal candidate will be a proven Manager looking to progress in an existing, forward thinking company.

The candidate will ideally have had some, but not necessarily all, of the following experiences before joining.

  • Two to three years practical work experience (on the tools) in landscaping or grounds maintenance
  • Two to three years management experience
  • Further education ideally in horticulture
