About the role:
Reporting to the Head of Regulatory, Construction and Disputes Team. The Senior Construction Lawyer will play a fundamental part in shaping the future success of the Group Legal function as it moves into a new world of innovative legal advice and support for the business.
The role will require the candidate to manage a broad spectrum of legal work, including reviewing, drafting, negotiating and advising on a variety of legal agreements, which will be mainly property and construction contracts. In addition to reviewing, drafting and negotiating terms of appointment for architects and other consultant types. As well as negotiations involving contractors appointed under our large package agreements and/or other design and build contracts. Other responsibilities will include providing steering and advice to the business on various legal issues affecting the house building sector, including some compliance and regulatory matters. You will be capable of providing advice on some construction litigation matters, for example Terminations, Pay Less Notices and Adjudications.
The candidate must bring a proactive, business and solution-oriented mindset to legal matters and a proven ability to work collaboratively across the organisation and specifically within the wider legal team.
About you:
The successful candidate will have at least 8 PQE, having trained in a top UK law firm. Ideally, with experience within the property and construction sector. Experience of working in a fast-paced in-house environment (desirable but not essential). This role would suit someone who is commercially astute and who thrives in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment. The company is expanding, and this is an excellent role for someone looking to take on the challenge and opportunity of working with senior stakeholders.
