Hays Senior Finance has been retained to work with a privately owned business in the Financial Services sector. This growing and profitable business is regulated yet remains agile and innovative. The business has been growing over the last few years and is highly profitable. Systems and controls are well-developed but there is still the opportunity to make improvements and add value.

Key duties include -

  • Ownership of the financial overview of the company, budgets and forecasts, with full P&L, balance sheet and working capital oversight.
  • Monthly Board Pack production and regulatory reporting.
  • Ownership of the annual budget production, ongoing forecasts, and long-term planning.
  • Ensuring and reporting on ongoing compliance with external funding covenants.
  • Completion of quarterly returns alongside the Compliance team
  • Providing insight and regular analysis of revenue and cost drivers of the business.
  • Continual development of management reporting to provide extensive commercial information with analysis to support effective performance review and decision making.
  • Carrying out all necessary actions to ensure that the company meets its financial and legal obligations, including corporation tax, VAT, PAYE, Companies House, ONS.
  • Acting as the primary contact with banks, accountants, auditors, HMRC and insurers.
  • Reviewing existing processes and systems and identifying areas for continual improvement.

As Head of Finance you will be No1 in finance reporting to the Board of Directors and ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met - both internally and externally. You will manage a small team and form part of the senior leadership team. You will be responsible for management and statutory accounts for several legal entities and the holding company. We are ideally looking for previous experience within a professional SME and you must be able to commute to the Chester area - this is not a remote role.
