Reporting to the Senior Manager – 1LOD Risks & Controls, you will be in the 1st line of Defence as their Operational Risk and Control Analyst.


You will assist the first line in identifying and assessing risks, as well as writing and documenting processes, procedures, and controls. You will also support internal control assurance activities across the first line to ensure that processes and controls comply with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

You will play a key role in supporting the design and construction of a fully functional first line control environment.


What will you be doing?


  • Assist in the developing and embedding of the Risks and Controls Framework
  • Assist in the day-to-day operation of the risk management process
  • Actively engage with the business with regards to risk related matters
  • Assist the organisation in the process of recording, assessing, reporting and escalating risk events whilst ensuring corrective and preventative action is implemented.
  • Support with completing assurance and reporting activities to evidence that processes are being followed in adherence with regulations and internal policies
  • Support with creating, reviewing and challenging key risk indicators
  • Supporting with documenting and analysing procedures and process flows to identify key/critical controls and ensure that updates consider risk implications
  • Attending and supporting during risk and control assurance meetings with stakeholders
  • Supporting the organisation to document, score and implement controls across the organisation to assist with our risk response
  • Recommending improvements to internal operational processes and support the business to deliver and implement as required
  • Support with monthly reporting highlighting key trends and themes
  • Promote risk and control awareness throughout the organisation


What are we looking for in you?


  • A background in a regulated environment on the front line, for instance in customer service, complaints, quality assurance etc but with the ability to identify issues and solve them.
  • You are highly motivated, driven, and have a keen attention to detail, with a passion for being part of a fast-paced, successful team
  • You have demonstrable experience in a regulated bank or financial services organization, particularly in quality assurance or operational risk roles.
  • Your verbal communication skills are excellent, and you possess accuracy and attention to detail.
  • You have the ability to produce high-quality, concise, and clearly written documentation.
  • You are comfortable working in a small team and have the confidence to work autonomously when needed.
  • You have commercial awareness and are willing to roll up your sleeves to ‘do’ and ‘execute’, not just advise.
  • You possess strong interpersonal skills and can work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.
  • You are numerate and computer literate, including proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, and are able to multitask and prioritize.
  • You are pragmatic in your approach, able to see and challenge issues as they arise, and can provide solutions and ideas to overcome the challenges faced in our operations.
