With a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and precision, we are expanding our team and seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in façade projects to be based in Essex.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing all commercial aspects of façade projects, ensuring financial control from inception through to completion. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of façade systems, including curtain walling, cladding, glazing, and rainscreen systems. They will be responsible for overseeing cost planning, tendering, contract administration, and value engineering while working closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the financial management of façade projects, including cost planning, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Prepare and review bills of quantities, cost estimates, and tender documentation.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement processes and negotiate contracts for façade works.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews, including valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment processing for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor project progress, attending site visits to ensure costs align with project milestones.
  • Advise on cost-saving initiatives, value engineering, and risk management specific to façade works.
  • Review and assess subcontractor claims and resolve any disputes related to project contracts.
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure compliance with project specifications and contract conditions.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior quantity surveyors within the team.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Chartered status with RICS, CIOB, or equivalent professional body is highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in quantity surveying, with at least 3 years specializing in façade projects.
  • Strong knowledge of various façade systems including curtain walling, cladding, and glazing.
  • Proven track record of managing high-value façade contracts on large-scale projects.
  • Excellent understanding of construction contracts such as JCT and NEC.
  • Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
