An opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional to join the firm as a Customs Assistant Manager / Manager in our Indirect Tax team, supporting clients across a variety of sectors with consulting on all matters relating to customs duties and compliance. This is a hybrid role based in our London office, with an expectation of 2 days a week in the office.


Key responsibilities

  • Work directly with clients in order to provide high-quality advice relating to matters of customs duty and compliance.
  • Areas covered will include but is not limited to; customs classification / origin / valuation, customs special procedures, AEO authorisation, duty reclaims and disclosures, excise duties, customs data analytics, CBAM.
  • Preparing and presenting proposals for work to existing and prospective clients.
  • Developing strong relationships with clients and taking the lead on proactively managing those relationships, taking ownership for the delivery of work to the required standard and in a timely manner.
  • Agreeing fees, managing the budget for agreed work, and coordinating client billing.
  • Managing client projects from initial preparation to application, implementation, and ongoing compliance e.g. for customs warehousing, Inward Processing, AEO.
  • Support the wider VAT team and collaborate with other teams within the firm in a joined-up manner to best support our clients.
  • Support in further development and use of Crowe’s Customs Data Analytics solution to best identify opportunities and risks for clients.
  • Keep up to date with legislative, regulatory, and technical updates in the customs and international trade environment; understand how such changes may impact our clients and identify opportunities arising as a result.


Skills and experience

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years relevant experience in the customs and international trade environment; consultancy experience preferred.
  • Proactive approach to identifying opportunities and winning client work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with clients and colleagues in a clear, open and consistent manner.
  • Willingness to support in the development on junior team members.
  • Meticulous approach to client delivery with a strong focus on attention-to-detail and quality of work delivered.
