We are expanding our presence in the trade sector and looking for an ambitious, proactive, hungry Business Development Manager to increase our offline trade client base.
Job Overview
The Business Development Manager will drive growth by identifying, engaging, and securing new offline trade clients, such as but not limited to landscapers, developers, garden designers, and property managers. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong sales background and an understanding of the horticultural or landscaping industries. You’ll be responsible for building relationships, delivering sales targets, and creating impactful partnerships. You will split your time by utilising our existing client base to create new opportunities and by developing new business who are new to Hedges Direct.
Key Responsibilities
Existing client base: We’ve been trading for 20 years so data is a plenty Your low hanging fruit and easy picks will be developing existing clients and tapping into national clients who haven’t repeat ordered from us. Understanding the why and turning those clients into partnerships.
- Identify and Target New Trade Opportunities: Conduct research to identify new business prospects within the landscaping and commercial property sectors, with a focus on companies that would benefit from Hedges Direct’s offerings.
- Build and Maintain Relationships: Develop strong, lasting relationships with key decision-makers to understand their project needs and position Hedges Direct as a trusted partner.
- Lead Sales Presentations and Negotiations: Prepare and deliver compelling presentations to potential clients, tailoring solutions to meet their specific project goals.
- Collaborate with Head Of Sales: Work closely with HOS to develop campaigns targeting trade clients and coordinate with the internal sales team to streamline the customer journey from lead generation through to order completion.
- Monitor Market Trends: Stay informed on industry developments and competitors, gathering insights to identify new sales strategies and value-added opportunities for clients.
- Develop and Manage Pipeline: Track and report on sales activity, pipeline, and results through our CRM, ensuring sales targets and KPIs are met consistently.
- Support Trade Client Accounts: Act as the main point of contact for trade clients, providing top-tier service and advice on products, availability, and project-specific recommendations.
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in B2B sales, business development, or account management, ideally within the horticulture, landscaping, or construction industries.
- Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with a knack for establishing rapport with trade professionals.
- CRM Proficiency: Strong experience with CRM software to track sales performance and pipeline.
- Knowledge: An understanding of the horticulture and landscaping market, with the ability to quickly learn about the products and client needs.
- Results-Oriented: A proactive, goal-driven individual who thrives on meeting and exceeding targets.
- Flexibility: Ability to travel to meet clients as required.
