The Group Risk Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the risk team to deliver the quarterly ORSA reporting (and associated processes) and make progress with the development of Lancashire’s ERM framework. This position is the crucial link between the CROs and the wider team and requires a delivery focused experienced London Market professional with proven line management experience.


In this role you will have line management responsibility for 3 Senior Risk Analysts.



Key Responsibilities

You will engage in a number of BAU activities which include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the timely preparation of the quarterly ORSA update reports to the Board(s) of Directors, ensuring appropriate peer review and sign off is undertaken and that all reports are submitted in line with internal board reporting deadlines
  • Involvement in the production of the annual Own Risk and Solvency (ORSA) Reports
  • Manage the risk and control assessment process to identify, assess, manage, and mitigate risk within the Group and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Take a lead role in the identification, monitoring and reporting of key risk indicators (KRI) across the Group, including both the tracking of performance against risk appetite and the identification of mitigating actions as appropriate
  • Responsibility for the detection and reporting of new and emerging risks, including the maintenance of the Group Emerging Risk Register and the running of the biannual Group Emerging Risks Forum
  • Responsibility for the data collection and reporting of operational loss events and near misses across the Group


In this role you will engage in some development work, such as:

  • Taking a lead role in the ongoing development, challenge, and enhancement of the enterprise risk management framework, including the updating of risk policies, risk appetite statements and the risk and control registers
  • Assisting in the design and undertaking of operational stress and scenario testing



Essential Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience as a Risk Manager, within the London Market
  • A strong people manager with experience of managing a medium to large team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage with other functions, locally and remotely
  • An expert at building effective and enduring stakeholder and peer relationships
