Overview

URBN has a compelling opportunity within our Global Trade and Compliance department. We're seeking a Manager of Regulatory Compliance to join us in supporting our worldwide operations. In this role, you'll be instrumental in ensuring regulatory compliance remains a central focus across our business. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that URBN delivers safe and reliable products to our customers, with a specific emphasis on compliance in the EU/UK markets. Additionally, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure URBN's alignment with upcoming regulations in the ESG space. This role offers the chance to lead and contribute to innovative initiatives within URBN's Regulatory Compliance department

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Monitor regulations in the EU and UK, as well as other geographic regions as needed, and ensure department leadership is aware and educated on relevant regulations, the impact they will have on the business, and the steps that must be taken to comply.
  • Ensure Regulatory Guidelines and other relevant documents are updated as needed
  • Regularly communicate with US Regulatory Compliance team to ensure a global approach to compliance is prioritized
  • Assist in developing processes to address upcoming EU-specific regulations, such as AGEC, CSRD, CSDDD, EUDR, etc.
  • Implement Regulatory Audit process to ensure product sold in EU/UK is compliant with relevant regulations, and vendors are compliant with URBN policies
  • Communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders to update, educate and inform relevant parties when laws are enacted or updated, or URBN processes change
  • Work with internal buying and production teams to ensure product safety is considered in the design, development and procurement processes.
  • Analyze customer reviews to ensure Regulatory Compliance team has visibility to any potential product safety issues; work with proper teams to ensure issues are addressed swiftly and effectively
  • Partner with third party labs, counsel and relevant enforcement bodies as needed
  • Develop tools to maximize efficiencies and improve current compliance processes
  • Identify potential efficiencies and improvements in current regulatory processes in UK/EU business
  • Collaborate with Brand and Production teams to increase education and awareness of key Regulatory Compliance issues, and build partnerships to accelerate progress toward our goals
  • Engage with industry peers and external stakeholders to benchmark, and to gain a deeper understanding of Product Safety issues and industry approaches to compliance
  • Support and/or spearhead various Regulatory Compliance projects as needed

What You Need:

  • Extremely detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Solid experience in a Regulatory Compliance or product safety related role, preferably in the apparel and/or retail industry
  • Strong foundational knowledge of product safety, especially in the retail industry
  • Experience reviewing & analyzing Regulatory Compliance test reports
  • Experience reading and effectively analyzing regulations from various geographic governing bodies
  • Ability to prioritize and manage own time and workload, while effectively delegating work as needed
  • Open-minded, collaborative approach to solving issues and implementing new processes
  • Strong communicator with a flexible and adaptable approach to new challenges
  • Ability to effectively summarize content in a way that is relevant and appropriate for intended audience
  • High degree of proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
