London, UK, United Kingdom Zopa Bank Full time

We started our journey back in 2005, building the first ever peer-to-peer lending company. Fast forward to 2020 and we launched Zopa Bank. A bank that listens to what our customers don’t like about finance and does the opposite. We’re redefining what it feels like to work in finance. Our vision for a new era of banking puts people front and centre — we’ve built a business that empowers everyone to aim high, every day, to move finance forward. We’re incredibly proud of our achievements and none of it would be possible without the amazing team here. It’s not just industry awards we’re winning, we’ve also been named in the top three UK’s Most Loved Workplaces.

The Role

This role sits within our Data Governance team which is currently made up of the Head of Data Governance and the Data Privacy Manager, of which you will report directly into the Data Privacy Manager. The team are the first point of contact across the business for data protection queries and data management/governance related questions. The team has recently expanded due to implementation of a data governance system and governance changes across the business which requires data protection review, risk rating and sign off on all changes involving the use of personal data. This is in addition to business-as-usual activity such as due diligence for new and existing suppliers, assisting in data protection matters that arise in customer services and adhering to data protection requirements such as DPIA review and maintenance, RoPA guidance and maintenance and training of data protection responsibilities across the business.

• CIPP in Privacy or equivalent, or experience of working with and implementing the UK Data Protection Act 2018

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence others

• Communicating and collaborating with stakeholders of all levels of seniority

• A good focus on active listening and understand the importance of communication skills

• Prioritisation and task management skills

• An ability to work independently and to identify issues and present options for remediation whenever possible

Nice to haves (but not essential):

• Financial services background

• Understanding of Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and how they can be applied
