Role responsibilities:

We are looking for a strategic and dynamic Category Manager to oversee and drive the success of a key product category within this company's portfolio. This role will involve leading the marketing efforts for a range of medicines in key therapy areas such as Gastrointestinal, Cardiovascular, and Central Nervous System (CNS), alongside other emerging areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the champion for assigned therapy areas, leading product managers and ensuring alignment with the overall category strategy across all stages of the product lifecycle— from pre-launch, launch, and post-launch activities.
  • Oversee and drive successful product launches in the UK, as well as support international and US product launches, utilizing tools like Microsoft Project and the Commercial Launch Excellence Dashboard.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the category’s strategic marketing plan, setting and tracking marketing and sales KPIs to ensure targets are met.
  • Analyze and track commercial performance through tools such as Power BI and product launch trackers, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Manage all elements of the marketing mix to maximize product performance, including packaging, promotion, events, digital marketing, and materials.
  • Create compelling marketing campaigns that resonate with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and contribute to market access, formulary pull-through, and product uptake.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including the sales team, to provide marketing support materials and product training.
  • Lead relationships with creative, media, and PR agencies to ensure timely and compliant creation of marketing materials.
  • Engage with senior leadership and internal stakeholders to provide insights and ensure buy-in for category strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of research strategies to tailor marketing approaches based on customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Ensure that all marketing activities are compliant with the Quality Management System, meeting industry regulations (e.g., ABPI, GDPR).

What we are looking for:

  • Proven track record of successful UK product launches across multiple therapy areas.
  • Strong experience in promoting and managing product launches internally and across diverse categories.
  • In-depth understanding of the UK NHS market; experience in global markets is a plus.
  • Solid experience in market research with the ability to generate actionable insights.
  • Strong digital marketing skills, including website content management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to think strategically and analytically.
  • Ability to influence and build collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience in managing budgets, timelines, and external agencies.
  • Highly motivated, with a passion for the category and products.
  • A minimum of 4 years experience in a product/brand manager role in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • ABPI qualification preferred.
