Our client is seeking a Management Accountant to join its team and provide essential financial support to its manufacturing operations.


Role Overview


The Management Accountant will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making across the business. With a focus on costings and manufacturing processes, you will provide analysis and reporting to help improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities


Costing Analysis:

  • Develop and maintain accurate costing models for manufacturing operations.
  • Analyse production costs, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide insights into pricing strategies to ensure product profitability.


Management Accounts:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and actual performance.
  • Present financial reports to senior management, highlighting trends and key insights.


Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Support the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, providing actionable recommendations.


Operational Finance Support:

  • Work closely with production and operations teams to optimise manufacturing efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Support stock valuation, inventory control, and work-in-progress (WIP) analysis.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of fixed assets and capital expenditure.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function and manufacturing operations.
  • Promote best practices in cost management and financial reporting.


Compliance and Controls:

  • Ensure adherence to financial controls and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Liaise with external auditors and support statutory reporting requirements.


Key Skills and Qualifications


  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of cost accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and present insights.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Excel.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
