About the Role

This Assistant Procurement Manager role will focus on the reporting elements for our Procurement team, with special focus on data driven analysis and organisation of our spend data and contracts matrix.

It's an important role - reports that the Assistant Procurement Manager creates will be seen at exec level, so accuracy is key. The role will

The role also comes with additional duties of administering small to medium value procurements on behalf of the organisation, so would suit someone looking to grow into or advance their existing procurement career.

About the Person

This role would suit a proactive problem-solver who takes initiative and is prepared to give things a go rather than simply be delegated tasks. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and likes to take on responsibility.

To succeed in the role, the ideal candidate will enjoy owning and managing databases on behalf of the team, building spend and reporting dashboards, and also working with suppliers on request for quotation exercises to deliver value-for-money to the organisation and UK tax-payer.

Essential
  • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly an advanced level of Excel
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative with a proactive approach
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks at any one time
  • Experience of high-volume data management and reporting
  • Demonstration of accuracy and thoroughness; ability to look for ways to improve processes
  • Ability to build credibility with internal stakeholders
  • Broad based professional procurement experience combined with commercial and financial awareness
  • Well-developed influencing skills in managing effective working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience of procurement systems including e-sourcing/e-tendering and procurement tender process

Desirable
  • MCIPS qualified or willing to work to achieve
  • Willingness to learn public procurement legislation
  • 2+ years working a procurement, finance, legal, contracting or similar department
