Assistant Project Manager – Construction

To carry out the role of Assistant Project Manager on commissions delivered by the company and where required to carry out project management support duties reporting to senior staff.


Key accountabilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of projects both pre- and post-contract across a number of sectors;
  • Comply with the company’s internal project management procedures, to include reporting, change control, risk management and gateway approvals.
  • Develop programmes, using Microsoft Project.
  • With guidance, develop and management project cashflows and drawdown reports as required.
  • Prepare project management reports, that reflect project status, risk and progress against programme for Senior review / sign-off.
  • Provide support on project management commissions, taking responsibility for an aspect (or aspects) of service delivery.
  • Assist with the preparation of contracts for commissions, for senior review / sign-off.
  • Ensure that client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time and cost targets and the appropriate quality standards.
  • With guidance from the Senior lead, provide Employer’s Agent / Contract Administrator services.
  • Gain an understanding of the Construction Contract to enable the above services to be delivered.
  • Be aware of the scopes of services on the projects and gain an understanding of design responsibility with each procurement method selected.
  • Support in the appointment and co-ordination of other consultants and contractors where required.
  • Prepare agendas, minutes and supporting documents for meetings as required.
  • Arrange and where required minute the required meetings to ensure the successful delivery of Identity Consult commissions.
  • Review site progress against programme.
  • With guidance, manage and administer a change control process.
  • Support where required with the delivery and writing of bids and tenders that come through the office.
  • Support with the identification of new Client’s.
  • Carry out shadowing at Business-to-Business meetings and support with preparation for meetings where required.
  • Accurately reflect time spent delivering for different Departments and fill out Spreadsheet.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years for a construction related organisation;
  • A proven track record of managing own successful projects in the construction industry;
  • Knowledge of Design & Build, warranties and agreement for leases;
  • Excellent client facing skills;
  • Experience of the whole project cycle, able to operate in the initial conceptual design stage and at each design in between;
  • Confidence in the use of all Microsoft applications; Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and be able to prepare and analyse detailed reports, spreadsheets & presentations.


Qualifications:

  • Degree in any discipline;
  • Technical qualification in project management or similar;
  • Membership of APM beneficial;
  • Demonstration of significant commitment towards personal professional development;
  • Must have a driving licence and have access to own car.
