Position Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Private Client Lawyer to join our team as a Senior Associate or Partner. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated legal professional to advance their career and contribute to the ongoing success of our firm. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in private client law and a passion for delivering outstanding legal services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, offering expert legal advice tailored to their specific needs and circumstances.
  • Estate Planning: Advise clients on estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, inheritance tax planning, and powers of attorney.
  • Probate and Administration: Manage probate cases and the administration of estates efficiently and with sensitivity.
  • Wealth Management: Collaborate with financial advisors and accountants to provide comprehensive wealth management solutions for clients.
  • Business Development: Actively participate in business development activities to expand the firm's client base, including networking events, seminars, and workshops.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior staff members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in private client law, ideally with a focus on high-net-worth individuals.
  • Qualifications: Qualified Solicitor with a current practicing certificate in Scotland.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Scottish private client law, including estate planning, wills, trusts, and probate.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Business Acumen: A proactive approach to business development and a strong network within the legal community in East Lothian is desirable but not essential.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to mentoring and developing junior team members.
