Job Description


I am working a fully integrated pharmaceutical business that operates in two global business groups: oncology and neurology (dementia-related diseases and neurodegenerative diseases). Each group functions as an end-to-end global business with discovery, development, and marketing capabilities.


Reporting to Estates Engineering Manager, this role has responsibility for the reliable and compliant operation of the estate wide services and equipment serving all business functions across the European Knowledge Centre (EKC) facility.


The main purpose is to deliver a high standard of mechanical and electrical services throughout the EKC business, within the estates engineering team. To plan and undertake routine scheduled maintenance of plant and/or equipment with stakeholders, causing minimal disruption.


Key duties:

  • Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance as required within critical and non-critical environments.
  • The closure of remedial and service requests
  • Work is carried out in accordance with current regulations and safety standards.
  • Monitor BMS for running equipment and responding to alarm conditions.
  • Investigate mechanical/electrical faults, identify root cause and corrective remedies.
  • Assist when and where required with installation work and small projects.


General tasks:

  • To ensure documentation required for statutory, H&S and GxP standards are completed and filed.
  • Arrange contractor site inductions and enabling work to start safely.
  • Propose ideas/initiatives for continuous Improvement to streamline, increase efficiency or reduce cost.
  • Assessment of critical spares, reviewing supply and storage needs.
  • Positive contribution to the “team” effort and the raising of the standard.
  • To minimise energy consumption through effective control and use of plant and systems.


Qualification/Education:

  • City & Guilds electrical qualification or equivalent (BS7671 & C&G 2391)
  • City & Guilds mechanical qualification or equivalent


Experience:

  • Strong engineering experience in similar regulated environment
  • Multi-Skilled in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience on steam boilers – blowdowns and water treatment.
  • VSD’s, motor controls and relay logic
  • Domestic and low temperature hot water systems.
  • AHU’s, FCU’s, chilled water and compressed air systems
  • Working knowledge of “Permit to work” systems.
  • Experience of CMMS and BMS systems.
