This is an opportunity to refocus and strengthen the UK business, which has been recovering lost sales, with the goal of growing from the current €10.5M to €12–15M. The new Country Manager will need to drive this growth, lead the team, and enhance collaboration in a matrix structure.


Scope of Responsibility

The Country Manager will be responsible for overseeing and driving the performance of the UK business, with a particular focus on recovering and expanding sales revenue, currently at €10.5M, to target levels of €12–15M. They will manage a team of 23–25 individuals in sales-related roles, including an Area Sales Manager leading a nine-member field sales team, a Head of Virtual Sales overseeing a remote team handling C-customers, two Key Account Managers specializing in Automotive and Packaging/Food & Beverage, and a Head of Technical Services and Solutions.

This role requires managing a mix of direct and channel sales, where less than 10% of business comes from distribution, with our client favoring direct customer relationships. The Country Manager will ensure alignment with corporate strategic goals, working collaboratively within a matrix structure alongside functional teams in Europe.


The individual will need to balance operational and strategic responsibilities, including steering the local management team to meet performance targets, fostering growth opportunities within the team, and addressing gaps in talent development left by the previous manager. While full P&L responsibility lies with the central team, the Country Manager will contribute to financial planning by setting initial estimates, monitoring progress, and making corrections as needed throughout the year.


Requirements

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in matrix collaboration and steering teams within industrial automation or similar sectors. They should have a proven ability to manage both field and remote sales teams effectively, ensuring alignment with corporate strategic goals and fostering a culture of performance and accountability. A strong background in mid-sized German businesses, is highly valued to ensure a cultural fit.


The individual should demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, including the ability to identify and promote internal talent, provide guidance and direction to their team, and drive sustained growth across the organization. They must be adept at managing a mix of direct and channel sales, with less than 10% of business driven by distribution, while ensuring a strategic focus on direct customer engagement.


Experience leading teams of 23–25 people in sales-related roles is essential, alongside a track record of successfully managing Key Account Managers, Area Sales Managers, and virtual sales teams. Strong financial acumen is required to contribute to financial planning and oversight, in partnership with the central P&L team, by setting realistic targets and monitoring performance throughout the year.


A strategic mindset is critical, and an MBA is preferred to further complement their ability to align local initiatives with broader corporate objectives.
