Location Rochester (Kent)

Start Date 23rd June 2025

BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Industrial Placement programme you will be required to attend your site 3-4 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.

What you will be doing
During your 12 month placement with us you will work with the Operations department team to help support the manufacture/development of our products/processes. You will be able to get involved at various levels of the business, from solving manufacturing problems on the shop floor, working on facility strategies, to managing your own improvement projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supporting the production of appropriate department documentation, such as planning documents and training material.
  • Liaising with other technical departments (i.e technicians, machine shop, new product introduction) to resolve manufacturing challenges or for planning purposes.
  • Day to day support of our manufacturing cells including continuous improvement of cell layouts and processes.
  • Understanding the importance of a Quality first mindset and some of the Quality tools we use (i.e auditing, non-conformance, concessions).
  • Developing ad-hoc skills around tooling design, supporting additive manufacturing (i.e 3D printing) and CAD skills (AutoCAD, CREO).
  • Running and management of the 3D print facility.

Skills
As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering degree.

To be considered for this role you must be returning to university to complete your degree.
