Main purpose of job:

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Legal and support the construction, asset management, and commercial teams by providing commercially focused legal advice throughout the project life cycle. They will have a critical role in helping the business procure, build, manage, and operate the global battery portfolio.


Qualified candidates should have 2 – 4 years PQE of contract drafting experience in a relevant area of law (energy, construction, or infrastructure law). Experience with regulatory law (grid/permitting) is a plus. Candidates must also have a strong academic record, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently.


General duties:

  1. Work closely with commercial managers to draft and negotiate engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreements and annexes, design appointments, operations and maintenance (O&M) agreements, asset management agreements (PPAs), ICP and other agreements for energy storage projects.
  2. Work closely with commercial managers on contract management issues.
  3. Support the Head of Legal and other members of the legal team in structuring and negotiating energy storage asset purchases, supervising the acquisition completion process.
  4. Work closely with compliance and finance managers to fulfil public reporting, board reporting and similar obligations.
  5. Provide training to the business on legal issues.
  6. External law firm management.

Qualifications/Training:

It is essential that the post holder:

  1. Can practice as a solicitor in England & Wales, with US qualification a plus.
  2. Has at least 2+ years of post-qualification experience.


Experience/Knowledge:

It is essential that the post holder has:

  1. Trained at a reputable law firm or within the in-house team of a reputable energy, construction, power or infrastructure company.
  2. Experience of working independently and cross-functionally.

  1. A strong appreciation of commercial objectives when providing legal advice.
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey legal advice in a succinct and actionable format that is appropriate to the recipient.
