HR and Payroll Coordinator

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: 9am-5pm (slight flexibility can be accommodated if required)

Salary: up to £30k depending on experience

Location: Hybrid - in our Beckenham office 3 days a week

Purpose of Role:

To support the Head of People & Culture and the Chief Finance Officer with all HR, benefits and payroll administration.



Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties will be varied and will include (but not be limited to) assisting the Head of People & Culture with:

  • Processing of all offers & contracts of employment.
  • Administrating and overseeing the new starter on-boarding process.
  • Processing documentation with regards to all staff changes, leavers etc.
  • Proactive advice and assistance for the full recruitment process/cycle – liaising with agencies, advertising, arranging interviews, interviewing, follow up, vacancy tracking etc.
  • Completing all monthly payroll processes including collating changes and resolving queries
  • Processing all monthly auto enrolment pension administration and liaise with external pension provider.
  • Coordination of all employee benefits administration such as childcare vouchers, medical insurance, cash plans etc.
  • Management of the HR system (via Sharepoint)– ensuring all employee records are kept up to date and all changes (starters, leavers, salary changes, role changes etc) are updated as required. Will also be contact for any user technical issues with the system.
  • Absence management – track and record all sick leave, ensuring Sharepoint and payroll are updated as required in line with company sick pay provisions etc, monitor all annual leave.
  • To provide administrative support to the Chief Finance Officer and Head of People & Culture as required on any wider HR-related tasks.



Skills and Experience:

An experienced HR generalist with the ability and confidence to operate in a stand-alone capacity:


  • Will have strong & current HR/payroll administration experience, preferably gained within a small team/stand-alone role.
  • Strong understanding of the generalist HR function, including employment policy and law.
  • A clear understanding of working with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proactive and organised with a strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work with regularly changing priorities and timescales.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to communicate with all levels of seniority.
  • Excellent numerical skills.
  • Strong computer skills particularly Word, Excel and previous experience of HR databases.
  • CIPD qualification, or studying towards, is desirable.
