The Safety Team at Silverstone Circuit is dedicated to ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all visitors, staff, contractors, and participants across the venue. This includes race events, corporate events, and general site operations. The faced paced operation of the team is like no other Safety Team, supporting Silverstone’s reputation as a premier motorsport and events venue.


JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking an experienced Event Health & Safety Manager to join our fast-paced Safety Team. This role will focus on health & safety for events, supporting the operational teams on planning, coordination and management of all health and safety throughout both public and corporate events.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement comprehensive risk assessments for the event calendar.
  • Manage the adjudication of risk assessments for clubs, organisers, and contractors as part of the accreditation system.
  • Coordinate and carry out briefings with contractors, staff, volunteers and stakeholders on event specific health and safety.
  • Manage temporary infrastructure onsite – including collation of documentation, structural sign off, emergency plans. Working closely with the logistics team on build and sign off schedules.
  • Work with the Fire Compliance Manager on managing scheduling for fire risk assessments and fire compliance checks.
  • Implement and oversee CDM designated sites ensuring compliance with the CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Work with stakeholders on event planning ensuring safety measures have been considered.
  • Develop and manage H&S policies specific for events.
  • Work closely with the Public Events department to develop event checks and recording.
  • Work in conjunction with Corporate Events department to develop process for checks and recording.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, such as the Fire Service and Local Councils.
  • Ensure that key personnel are adequately prepared in terms of training for emergency preparedness.
  • Carry out site safety audits throughout build, live and breakdown periods of high-risk and promoted events, supporting the Silverstone Circuits 365 24/7 calendar.
  • Investigate incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed records for post-event analysis and compliance.
  • Act as Duty Manager at allocated events, often weekend or evenings.


TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote at all times the professional image of the company by ensuring high standards of both professionalism and personal presentation.
  • Participate in staff training as required.
  • Comply with company policies and health and safety requirements at all times, encouraging an awareness of health and safety requirements.
  • Any additional responsibilities as reasonably required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified in Occupational Health and Safety (Masters, BSC, NEBOSH, CMIOSH, NVQ4) and certified membership of IOSH or equivalent.
  • Conversant with COSHH, RIDDOR, DSE, DDA and PPE Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience in executing Construction, Design and Management Regulations (2015).
  • Understanding of industry standards including the Green Guide, the Purple Guide and equivalent.
  • Relevant Health and Safety experience within a large-scale venue, events, and leisure environments.
