We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Principal Hardware Design Engineer to join a state-of-the-art R&D company based in South Cambridgeshire. You will be working across an exciting range of different cutting-edge development projects predominantly within the defence and security sector (defence for good - only working on projects which make the world a safer place), however, may also get involved in medical device and consumer electronics product development.


You will be an integral member of the R&D group, leading on developing technology that makes a difference and has real-world impact. You’ll use your wide expanse of hardware design skills and experience to lead projects and design teams taking designs from concept to prototypes through to design and implementation.

Principal Hardware Design Engineer requirements:

  • 2.1 or above degree in Electronics or closely related equivalent
  • Recent and relevant experience working as a Senior Hardware Design Engineer / Principal Engineer / Hardware Architect designing and developing high-end embedded application hardware architectures
  • Ability to lead design projects and teams
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in analogue and digital electronics design
  • Knowledge of embedded technologies such as CPUs, SoCs, high-speed communication and DDRx memory
  • Experience of full product development lifecycle from concept generation to prototypes through to design and implementation
  • Due to the nature of some of the projects you must be eligible for UK security clearance.


Salary: circa £70k - £95k + benefits
