Pension Risk & Treasury Manager


Base Location: The role is based out of London, the team normally come to the office twice a week.


This is a fantastic opportunity to join a rapidly expanding Treasury Framework team. The team itself is responsible for maintain risk frameworks and risk appetite across Pension Risk, Liquidity and Funding risk; Capital risk; and Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB).


This Pension Risk team provides strategic advice to executive management in relation to the pension scheme. They then activity engage with the Finance and Risk teams; as well as a number of external stakeholder (e.g. Trustee Board Directors, regulators and Advisors).

This role will give you the brilliant opportunity to really expand your Pension Risk experience and develop your Treasury knowledge, broadening out into other areas within the Framework team. This includes identifying how financial risks could materialise and managing their potential risks – from risks to their income, from changes in interest rates, to risks in Nationwide’s long term stability from liquidity and capital risks.


What will you be doing?


  • You’ll be responsible for identifying how Pension Risks could materialise and recommending ways for Nationwide to manage their potential impact.
  • You will be providing expertise and challenge in regards to pension models and control frameworks in order to maintain strong credibility and assurance within the business and to support the teams key responsibilities.
  • Providing strategic advice to executive management in relation to the pension scheme. You will actively interact and engage with teams across Finance and Risk – as well as a number of external stakeholders (e.g. Trustee Board Directors, regulators and advisors).


What will you need to do it?


  • You would need to have solid experience with Pension Risk and Pension Liabilities.
  • You would need an understanding of IAS19 Accounting
  • You would need the desire to diversify and expand your skillset, learning different areas of the wider Treasury space such as Capital and Liquidity Risk.


Skills we’d love to see:

  • It would be desirable if you had team management experience as you would be looking over two analysts.
