SmartPro are working with one of Europe’s leading manufacturers within their industry. Due to an increase in production and the installation of a new state-of-the-art machinery, they are looking for a Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to join the team based at Port Talbot.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role will entail maintaining and repairing equipment within the factory to minimise downtime and increase production.


Hours: 42 hours per week operating on a on a four-weekly cycle; Working day and night shifts. A day shift runs 6.00am to 6.00pm. A night shift runs 6.00pm to 6.00am.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance and Breakdown/Reactive Maintenance of machinery.
  • Ensure machinery and equipment is maintained to a safe operating standard.
  • Identify spares/parts that require procuring and report back to engineering manager.
  • Carry out / assist with equipment installations.
  • Keep up to date with housekeeping in the workshop and engineering storage areas.
  • Ensure maintenance and engineering practices comply with BRC requirements.
  • Mainly electrically-based tasks but will also require working knowledge and experience of mechanical systems, pneumatics & hydraulics, fabrication, pipework as well as PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Carry out any necessary maintenance / installation work to buildings / facilities etc.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive industrial electrical experience.
  • Mechanical and fabrication experience beneficial.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical & pneumatic drawings
  • Knowledge of electronics and P.L.C’s.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Excellent communication & numerical skills
  • Ability to use own initiative & good organisational skills
  • Ability to manage and deal with change in a fast moving and demanding environment. whilst still maintaining standards set within the business.
  • Good attendance and time-keeping.
  • An individual that can continue to make improvements and upgrades to increase production and improve safety.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office would be beneficial.
  • A full UK driving license and a valid FLT counter balance certificate are preferred.
