The Project Planner is essential for ensuring that projects are executed and delivered smoothly and with a responsibility for planning, organising, and scheduling project activities. As a primary SAP user for the Projects team, this role involves utilising SAP software to support and execute project management processes, conduct specific job functions effectively, perform data analysis, ensure data accuracy, and generate reports. The Project Planner will manage planning, scheduling, resource oversight and monitoring tasks, and function as a key player in optimising business operations through effective SAP system use.

What you'll be doing...

  • Performing SAP related functions and administrative tasks, including project planning, work order and task management, purchase order and stock requisitions, scheduling, monitoring, and updating
  • Optimising business operations through efficient use of SAP.
  • Monitoring of construction work, dates, programmes, tenders, quotes, project documentation, costs, and budgets to update project progress in SAP accordingly.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, resource requirements and create and maintain project schedules to monitor progress and adjust as necessary to meet project goals.
  • Communicating and coordinating with internal and external resources and stakeholders to support with managing project initiations, timelines, scope, key milestones and tasks, resourcing, risks, budgets, and project closure.
  • Daily communication and liaison with the internal departments including Projects, Partnerships, Purchasing and Logistics and Finance as well as contractors and suppliers to effectively perform your duties.
  • Auditing data and ensuring compliance in line with Corporate Governance.
  • Performing data analysis by processing, collecting, and analysing data to gain insights into trends and risks and help inform project predictions and high-level decision making.
  • Manage quality of data to identify failures, omissions and errors and try to identify patterns or reasons for the same.
  • Support the Projects team in improving the planning and delivery of projects by collecting and maintaining data in a consistent form and to implement best practice and for lessons learnt.
  • Accurate project tracking and support on project reporting - system reporting developed from SAP for planning, finance, stock, programme, cost control and forecasting. FINANCIAL SUPPORT ROLE IDEAL.
  • Produce and circulate high-level project reports for key stakeholders to aid with review and decision-making.
  • Supporting the PMO Manager in the successful implementation of SAP into the Projects Team Ecosystem (Stakeholder engagement, PMs, contractors, suppliers, data migrations and validations, acceptance testing etc.)
  • Supporting the PMO Manager to mentor, train, coach and provide guidance to Project Managers and new starters with the new documents and SAP processes to the required standards, ensuring adherence to company processes and governance.
  • Supporting the PMO manager on updating and managing project documentation and to reflect new SAP processes.
  • Support the PMO Manager in reviewing the interdepartmental processes and project documentation.
  • Maintain a central repository for storing key SAP project documents that can be easily accessed by relevant parties ensuring effective data control, storage, and security.
  • Provide support and guidance to Project Managers, as necessary.
  • Support the Projects team where required on procurement of stock and IT equipment, including intercompany procurement.
  • Support the Projects team where required for defining and preparing product specifications (Bills of Materials) for performing stock requestions in SAP.
  • Promote and ensure that the governance framework is adhered to throughout the project delivery, including constitutional adherence and procurement requirements.

  • Microsoft software proficiency and ability to manipulate large volumes of data.
  • Ability to produce training documents and lead training sessions.
  • Undertake any other duties which may assist the Projects team.
  • A flexible approach as this role may require travel at times around the relevant regions.

Experience and Qualifications
  • A degree in project management, engineering, business administration, information technology or a related field; and/or relevant professional project management and/or SAP certifications (desired)
  • Experience in project planning or a related field is advantageous.
  • Experience with project management software is advantageous.
  • SAP knowledge and experience would be advantageous.
  • Project management knowledge and skills experience in planning and scheduling, programme management, budget and financial management, risk management, communication, team collaboration, stakeholder management, resource management, analytical abilities and data interpretation skills, attention to detail, organisational skills, problem solving and adaptability to changing project requirements and environments.
  • Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel and IT skills and an ability to deal with large volumes of complex data.
