**Principal Project Planner - Inside IR35**

**Location: Hybrid Working (up to three days per week office based - Manchester & York)**

**Job Purpose**:
As Principal Project Planner working within the Delivery Operations directorate for the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) Programme team, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and optimising the delivery of works within possession at Programme / Enterprise level.

The Delivery Operations directorate helps drive the TRU Programme and is key to the integration of access, constructability, logistics and resources to execute disruptive engineering works and major commissioning activities.

As Principal Project Planner, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust programme schedules, considering interdependencies, and conducting impact analyses when adjusting planned works. This role demands a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

**As a Principal Project Planner your main responsibilities will be to**:

- Create and manage detailed programme schedules incorporating access requirements, logístical considerations, and resource allocations.
- Ensure alignment with project milestones and deadlines.
- Monitor movement of the Alliance schedule activities and assess against access windows in the TRU Box Plan.
- Collaborate with access and logistics teams to optimise resource utilisation during possession periods across the programme (resource load a P6 plan).
- Integrate EAS / possession plans into the overall project schedule.
- Align the P6 plan activities with their associated access windows in the TRU Box Plan.
- Identify and analyse interdependencies between different programme within the EAS period.
- Conduct impact assessments when changes are made to the planned works.
- Work closely with resource managers to ensure adequate and efficient resource allocation for each phase of the project.
- Monitor resource availability and adjust schedules as needed.
- Facilitate the planning and scheduling of major commissioning activities, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives.
- Collaborate with commissioning teams to integrate their plans into the overall project schedule.
- Conduct risk assessments related to scheduling and possession planning (QSRA at a programme level to inform entreprise on decision of moving blockades etc).
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate schedule-related risks.
- Communicate programme level 12 to 24 months lookahead schedules.
- Provide regular updates on programme progress and any schedule adjustments.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in planning and scheduling activities.
- Implement best practices to enhance overall project efficiency.
- Create an automated system that will highlight any misalignment between activities being planned where there is either no access, or misaligned access against the TRU Box Plan.

**You’ll have**:

- Proven experience as a Senior/Principal Planner in a complex project environment, preferably within railway upgrades or major infrastructure projects.
- Detailed constructability planning experience
- Familiarity with possession planning and execution.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Time management, organisational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Team player with strong collaboration skills.
