What you will do:

Immerse yourself in an exciting role where you'll acquire hands-on knowledge in servicing and repairing a variety of mechanical plant machinery, including state-of-the-art furnaces, CNC machines, manufacturing, and milling machines. At our Frome production facility, we produce fire suppression products that are shipped worldwide. These are vital in the production of our globally distributed products.   • On-the-Job Work Experience: You'll spend significant time with our qualified engineers, where you'll be learn the skills necessary to install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment. Our maintenance team play a key role in minimizing downtime.
  • This hands-on experience will provide you with a challenging role where you can grow your maintenance skills daily.
  • Collaboration with Qualified Engineers: Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll work closely with qualified Johnson Controls Engineers who will serve as mentors, guiding you in developing your skills. This collaborative environment ensures that you receive the support and guidance needed to succeed in your role.
  • You will grow to play a key role in the smooth operation of our facility, ensuring minimal downtime through effective maintenance practices. You'll be involved in both planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring our critical machinery never misses a beat.
  • Opportunity to work with diverse systems and processes, optimizing the efficiency and output of our facilities and machinery. From installation to testing, fault diagnosis to ongoing planned maintenance of sophisticated automated equipment, you'll be involved in a wide range of tasks.
  • You'll also familiarize yourself with lean manufacturing techniques designed to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in production processes. As part of your responsibilities, you'll maintain mechanical equipment, fluid and pneumatic power systems, as well as electrical, electronic, and process control equipment.
  • Opportunities for Growth: Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll have the opportunity to grow and apply the skills and knowledge gained in college in a real workplace setting with the continued support of your mentor. This learning approach ensures that you develop both technical competencies and practical skills essential to become a successful maintenance technician.

Requirements for the role:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English (Grade 5)
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths (Grade 5)

Training and Qualifications:

  • College Attendance: You'll attend college on either a day release or block release basis, depending on your location and the college's scheduling. You will be enrolled on a level 3 maintenance and operations engineering technician qualification. This structured education component will complement your on-the-job training, providing you with comprehensive knowledge and skills to become a successful maintenance technician.

What happens next?

  • Suitable candidates will have a screening call with a recruiter to discuss the position and provide necessary documentation. Afterward, you will be invited to an assessment centre in May, where they will participate in a practical assessment, meet the team, and have an interview.
  • Within 48 hours of the assessment centre, candidates will receive a response regarding the outcome of their application. If successful, they can begin the apprenticeship on September 2, 2024.
