We are now offering a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Site Manager to join our dynamic operational team to deliver a state-of-the-art community centre in Crewe. This project involves both new build and refurbishment elements, aimed at creating a modern and vibrant facility.

Your Role: As a Senior Site Manager, you will play a crucial role in the safe and successful delivery of construction activities on site. This is your chance to lead a key project, ensuring it meets Kier's high standards for quality and safety while adhering to the construction programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactive Safety Management: Ensure all construction activities are carried out safely, fostering a culture of safety on site.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain Kier's quality standards by effectively supervising subcontractors and Kier staff.
  • Operational Targets: Drive the site team to meet operational targets and deliver the project on time.
  • Problem Solving: Address emerging technical or logistical challenges efficiently, offering practical solutions and directing the team accordingly.
  • Communication: Keep the Project Manager informed of any site issues promptly and assist in their resolution.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

  • Subcontractor Management: Under the direction of the Project Manager, oversee subcontractor partners to deliver work packages such as groundworks, drainage, structural frame erection, roofing, cladding, interior fit-out, and finishings safely and to high standards.
  • Quality Control: Check subcontractor work against programme requirements, design drawings, and quality standards.
  • Risk Management: Review subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure safe and appropriate working methods.
  • Compliance: Conduct toolbox talks and site inductions to ensure compliance with Kier standards.
  • Logistics Coordination: Manage site logistics, including the movement of plant and labor, ensuring safety at all times.
  • Reporting: Report any issues or programme slippages to the site/project manager and maintain accurate site reports and paperwork.
  • Collaboration: Work with the wider project team (PM, Designer, Engineer, etc.) to find solutions to any challenges.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Industry Experience: Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the construction industry, preferably within the Main Contracting environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with on-site subcontractors.
  • Technical Understanding: Sound technical understanding of a wide variety of construction packages.
  • Influencing Skills: Strong influencing skills to effectively manage and motivate subcontractors.
  • Custodial Projects: Experience working on custodial projects is desirable.

Qualifications/Accreditations:

  • Relevant Construction Qualification (HND/Degree/SVQ) or Technical Trade
  • SMSTS 5 Day Certification
  • CSCS Card
  • First Aid Certification
