A highly regarded design practice who have been a leading name in the British architecture space for 20+ years are looking for a commercially minded and strategic Director of Operations to join them on a permanent basis at their office in central London.

Within this role, you will work closely with the board of directors and act as the main linchpin for the practice, ensuring synchronicity across all departments. You will lead strategic, commercial, and operational initiatives and play a key part in driving the company forward. The role is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects including but not restricted to HR, finance, studio facilities, administration, operations and more. This is a broad and exciting role where you can really make a difference in an organisation and be the ‘go-to’ person of the practice. The ideal person will have strong leadership and operational management skills – ideally within the built environment – coupled with architectural/project knowledge and the desire to make impact within a creative environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire operational functions of the practice
  • High level management of finance, HR, facilities, IT
  • Manage resourcing and the company’s recruiting and hiring efforts alongside HR
  • Develop budgets and forecasts to support business targets
  • Oversee governance, risk management, and company compliance
  • Serve as primary contact for business communications
  • Ensure an efficient and positive studio environment
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Lead project operations providing legal and financial guidance where needed
  • Monitor project performance, profitability and collaborate with project teams
  • Lead strategic planning and growth initiatives
  • Analyse and present financial reports to leadership, providing commentary and strategic direction
  • Act as a go to person for the wider team
  • Act as a liaison for external advisors and stakeholders

Key Skills/Requirements:
