My client is a key player in the UK transmission and distribution sector, contributing actively to the net zero 2050 initiative. With a secured workstream that ensures long-term opportunities, they are committed to delivering essential new build infrastructure across the country. As a selected ASTI contractor, they play a pivotal role in enhancing network capacity to support the UK government's 2030 goals and the transition to net zero.

This position offers a hybrid working model, allowing flexibility between home and office locations in Glasgow, Horsham, or the Midlands, with a preference for candidates who can work from the Glasgow office. However, candidates from other locations will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

As an Overhead Line Design Engineer, you will:

- Conduct overhead line design studies to support construction and consultancy projects.

- Develop transmission line models.

- Produce electrical line performance assessments and safety studies.

- Create and utilise OHL support models within transmission design frameworks.

- Evaluate, select, and quantify transmission line components for projects.

- Ensure safety by design throughout the design process.

- Drive innovation in project solutions.

- Deliver design outputs to internal and external stakeholders.

- Ensure all work complies with agreed budgets and timelines.

- Stay updated with technical quality management procedures, developments, and specifications related to the discipline.

Qualifications:

Essential:

- A degree in engineering or a related discipline.

- Basic understanding of overhead transmission line design.

- Proficiency in PLS CADD/Tower for developing design outputs.

- Fluency in spoken and written English.

- Ability to work as part of a dispersed and remote team, communicating effectively through collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams.

- Awareness of key health and safety impacts on OHL construction contracts.

Desirable:

- Proficiency in CAD design software.

- Experience creating PLS CADD models from topographical survey data.
