Lead CSA Estimator

Location: Glasgow

Experience Required

  • Experience in Data Centres, Pharmaceuticals, Semi-Conductors, or large-scale Civil Infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Document Control

  • Manage tender documentation for each bid, ensuring comprehensive analysis of drawings, specifications, tender addenda, and related materials to identify work elements for inclusion in the Bill of Quantities (BoQ).
  • Establish and maintain organised filing systems for tender and project documents to ensure easy retrieval and future reference.

Quantification of Work

  • Expertly prepare and quantify work elements using Cost X, with experience in both 2D and 5D applications.

Pricing and Cost Analysis

  • Source and evaluate quotations from local suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring completeness and consistency before integrating into bid proposals.
  • Work closely with the construction and operations teams to develop cost-reflective rates, leveraging insights and lessons learned from past projects.

Change Management

  • Review and analyse all tender addenda issued pre- and post-tender to identify changes, document revisions, and adjust tender submissions as necessary.
  • Apply updated rates and incorporate revised work scopes seamlessly into bid packages.

Time Management

  • Demonstrate exceptional organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of BoQs and tender submissions under pressure.

Software Skills

  • Proficient in Cost X, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and other relevant estimation tools.

Mentorship and Leadership

  • Act as a mentor to junior estimators, providing training, support, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying or Estimating role, ideally with a focus on civil works and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in Data Centre or CSA commercial projects is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse contract documents and meet contract requirements.
  • Proven track record in preparing and pricing BoQs for large-scale projects valued at £10m-£15m or more.
  • High-level competency in BoQ preparation, cost analysis, and estimation techniques.
