The role


The SOX Manager co-designs and develops the SOX governance framework outlining roles and responsibilities for the International and Country Finance teams to deliver the SOX strategy as developed by the Senior Director of SOX. The SOX governance framework’s principle is that our local teams are able to continuously build and maintain their internal control framework, including adherence to Entity Level Controls as well as a solid web of transactional controls at its core processes.


The SOX Manager will support local teams in the development of their capabilities and identify gaps and areas for improvement to be implemented. This may also require time alongside the Country teams to help establish and develop these capabilities.


In line with the functional governance framework for SOX, the SOX Manager will review test findings, oversee the remediation of control gaps and ensure local markets have met the identified control goals and establish a reporting framework that enables the escalation of critical issues to senior management.


The SOX Manager assists in the development and adherence to the annual budget as well as the hiring and training of new members of the SOX Team across the different countries. Other duties also include assisting external auditors in audit planning and evaluation of the internal controls environment as and when required.


The SOX Manager reports to the SOX Sr Director and acts as a SOX champion of DaVita International, in partnership with the SOX Team based in the US.


Responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Lead the development and maintenance of the SOX program supporting our local markets across all countries, including adherence to the SOX policy and methodology.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate relevant stakeholders on SOX requirements, fostering a culture of control awareness and accountability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as IT and People Services, to maintain robust internal controls, including peers from Enterprise in the US and other teammates in the local markets.
  • Support reporting of the SOX program to the International Risk Committee.
  • Co-develop the SOX strategy for DaVita International outlining timeframe and process for roll out of the program across all Finance teams in each market.
  • Support in the design and update of process/control documentation, and perform process walk-throughs as required.
  • Oversee testing procedures to ensure controls are effective and in compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Support local markets prepare for external SOX audits.
  • Review internal/external audit findings/recommendations and document management's responses.
  • Present findings to senior leadership, and external auditors as required.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications and experience


Following are the qualifications and certifications associated for this job position (some are required and others are preferred)


  • Demonstrated experience of at least 2 years implementing SOX in a reputable firm (industry or audit firm).
  • Skilled relationship builder who is capable of working effectively with senior management, but also with different and diverse teams across the business, and across different cultures.
  • Prior international experience is a strong advantage especially in our relevant markets in Europe, Middle East, APAC & LATAM
  • Experience using Wdesk or similar system
  • High degree of organization and efficiency, along with a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor in Business (Accounting) / relevant qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Experience reading and interpreting internal policies and procedures
  • Should have a “can-do” and “will-do” attitude with respect to accomplishing goals
  • Professional fluency in English
