Job Scope


As an ActiveQuote Infrastructure DevOps Engineer, you will form part of the ActiveQuote DevOps function and will take overall ownership for the day-to-day operation of the IT infrastructure and services, ensuring the appropriate service levels are maintained and the systems are reliable. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager you will assist in the development and delivery of the company’s On Prem and Cloud infrastructure strategy, including both day-to-day support, monitoring and development work. You may also be asked to input to the infrastructure vision and strategy, ensuring it meets the company’s requirements and is viable from a technical and support perspective.


A friendly disposition and excellent communications skills are key. In addition to helping support both the internal and client-facing IT infrastructure. You will be part of the cross functional teams, collaborating and contributing into internal technology projects. You will be familiar with Infrastructure provisioning via Code (Terraform) and system administration including deploying and maintaining the servers, storage, and networking resources required to host applications. You will also have experience of managing On-premise resources such as physical servers, SAN / NAS systems, switches, and virtualization software (VMware). For a hybrid or entirely cloud-based organization this will usually include provisioning and managing virtual instances of the same components.


Responsibilities and Duties


  • Escalation point from 1st line helpdesk support.
  • User administration and implementing standards of systems such as Active Directory, M365.
  • Provide exceptional Communication and Service Support and Customer Service to the Business.
  • Collaborate with software development, data and operations teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions.
  • Proactive server and network monitoring to ensure systems are performing correctly and to identify any issues that could impact the delivery of service to the business and escalate.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure and deployment issues, working closely with crossfunctional teams, such as software and data teams.
  • Perform Daily/ Weekly & Monthly checks to ensure systems are performing correctly, escalate issues to Infrastructure manager if necessary.
  • Incident management - Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues with infrastructure solutions used within ActiveQuote, providing solutions and workarounds.
  • Be a technical stakeholder as the Infrastructure DevOps representative within projects and standups.
  • Encouraging and building automated processes wherever possible.
  • Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline.
  • Troubleshooting techniques and fixing the code bugs using Azure log analytics.
  • Review of Services, Application delivery, Patching and Anti-Virus.
  • Providing assistance to define, manage and evolve Polices, Processes and Procedures.
  • Define, manage and transfer knowledge and standards to Junior team members.
  • Prioritise, log and track multiple issues through to resolution, within agreed time limits and SLAs
  • Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports identifying issue trends with recommendations.
  • To install and configure software applications to meet the needs of the employees.
  • Engage on Infrastructure Automation work, either independently or with delivery partners (internal and external.
  • Produce root cause analysis reports in case of failures and issues.
  • Help in configuring Firewalls, network permissions, role administration etc. to adequately safeguard the company against internal and external threats or misuse of the internal IT policy

Skills & Education


Essential

  • Strong experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, and preferably be certified/accredited with Azure Administration certification.
  • Proven working knowledge and experience using Terraform IaC.
  • Experience using CD/CI Pipelines in Azure DevOps.
  • Experience working with GIT source control.
  • Highly skilled specialising in supporting Microsoft Servers, Desktops and Applications (M365 + InTune)
  • Ability to develop automated tasks and scripts using PowerShell or other scripting languages.
  • Exceptional team collaboration skills.
  • Proven experience working within cloud infrastructure service delivery.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent ability to transfer knowledge within a team.
  • Exceptional Incident Management skills with ability to identify root cause and implement solutions.
  • Aware of Incident, Change and Asset Management frameworks (ITIL, TOGAF)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Microsoft Identity and Access Management products and policy management.
