The Talent & Learning team is looking for a Learning & Development Manager with a focus on Talent to help us enhance our inclusive talent management processes and initiatives and aid in our mission to continue to build and grow our inclusive and diverse team. The Talent Development Manager will report to the Talent & Learning Lead and collaborate with various HR and functional leaders.


A Bit About the Role

As the L&D Manager - Talent, you will:

  • Manage our Inclusive Talent Management activity and tools incorporating all aspects of the talent management lifecycle including performance and development, Talent Review and succession planning.
  • Develop Talent Management capability across the business to drive transparency, fairness and effectiveness in how we know, grow and move talent around the Selfridges.
  • Utilise internal and external insight to provide an expert view to our current approach and ensure Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is centred at the heart of our talent management processes and track the progress of initiatives in supporting our short and long term goals.
  • Design, deliver and implement targeted Talent Development initiatives, tools and programmes that support internal progression and diversity of talent at all levels of the business.
  • Collaborate with HRBP’s to coach Leaders and Managers on talent & performance processes and tools and partner with stakeholders to ensure a robust and ready pipeline of internal talent for our most critical roles.
  • Facilitate internal management and leadership programmes and team development activity in collaboration with the wider L&D Management team.
  • Champion and promote internal learning opportunities to increase engagement.

A Bit About You

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in learning & development with experience of targeted talent management initiatives with the ability to shape, design and deliver a world class talent management strategy.

  • An experienced Learning & Development professional: An expert in your field, you’ll have a strong background in learning, understanding best practice and how it can achieve ROI as well as enable business goals. You will have experience of designing and delivering learning initiatives and programmes.
  • Design: You are confident and experienced learning designer. You have a close attention to detail and experience of working within brand guidelines.
  • Facilitation: You are an engaging in person and virtual facilitator, able to pick up and deliver established content as well as adapt to the learning needs of the room in the moment.
  • Customer-focused: You put your customers at the heart of everything you do, adapting changing needs and catering to a variety of audiences.
  • Analytics: You utilise data to inform proposals, assess the success of initiatives and proactively seek and share insight to inspire and influence stakeholders across the business. You will have strong Excel and analysis skills.
  • Forward thinking: You take a forward-thinking, commercial and collaborative approach to projects. Having the ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational management, making sure projects are delivered effectively.
  • Flexible: You’re able to manage multiple and varied learning projects simultaneously, proactively managing expectations and constantly adjusting priorities to business needs and comfortable working in an ambiguous environment.
  • A great communicator: You have excellent communication skills, able to adapt your style to inspire and influence multiple stakeholders, across various functions, at all levels. You understand the need to build and maintain relationships across the business, proactively seeking and giving effective feedback and can positively challenge when needed.
  • Creativity: You take a creative and innovative approach to problem solving and learning solution creation that inspires our customers and effectively meets our learning goals
