The role:

A successful, growing business who are within the real estate sector based in Birmingham who has an urgent requirement for an experienced Finance Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a small but busy accounts team and develop your skills working alongside knowledgeable and experienced colleagues.


You will have full responsibility of the accounts function and have the opportunity to put your stamp on things.


Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Finance manager on all transactional activity
  • Taking care of administrative tasks, such as correspondence, filing and printing
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed customer records and creating new customer accounts
  • Building a good rapport with clients and providing an accounting team with relevant information
  • Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Collecting monthly direct debits and making payments
  • Preparing and entering journals into the system
  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts and month-end duties
  • Managing VAT returns and other ad-hoc duties


Essential Skills/ Experience:

  • Completed up to Level 3 AAT
  • You should have broad experience within a finance function (including a working knowledge of tax), be a good communicator and have experience of working with non-finance professionals.
  • Experience using finance and accounting software
  • Competency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • With the ability to address problems and identify solutions independently
  • Contributes to the development of the organisation by providing business focused, commercially viable, creative advice
  • Works collaboratively with all stakeholders, developing and maintaining effective relationships and providing an excellent service to them
