Are you a skilled Technical Designer with a passion for bridging the gap between game design and development? We offer a unique opportunity to work on one of the biggest IPs in gaming as a Technical Designer on a 3-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you’ll ensure the seamless integration of game mechanics and technology, contributing to an engaging player experience.


Your Role:

As a Technical Designer, you will collaborate closely with designers, programmers, and artists to implement and optimise gameplay systems, tools, and features. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining gameplay systems, creating prototypes, and resolving technical issues to ensure a polished final product.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain gameplay systems using visual and text-based scripting languages (Blueprint, Lua, Python, or similar).
  • Create and enhance design tools to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Build and iterate on prototypes for new gameplay elements.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges, focusing on memory management, frame rate enhancement, and optimising performance using Unreal Engine 5’s profiling tools.
  • Collaborate with team members to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.


Your Skills and Experience:

  • Expertise in both visual and text-based scripting languages (Blueprint, Lua, Python).
  • Strong understanding of Unreal Engine workflows, including UE5’s Control Rig, Sequencer, animation systems, Niagara VFX, Nanite, Lumen, materials, and shaders.
  • Experience in optimising game performance and troubleshooting bottlenecks using UE5's profiling tools.
  • Solid grasp of game and level design principles.
  • Previous experience working on games or game-adjacent projects.
  • Motivation to tackle creative and technical challenges and the ability to analyse and deconstruct the work of others.


Nice to Haves:

  • Proficiency in C++ with a good understanding of network replication and its limitations.
  • Experience in game jams.
