Position: Private Wealth Solicitor

Location: London


We are seeking an outgoing and client-focused Private Wealth Solicitor with at least 6 years post-qualification experience (PQE) to lead our Private Client team in London. The ideal candidate will be fully committed to delivering the best service for clients and have a strong ability to create new business


Key Responsibilities:

  • Will Drafting and Succession Planning: Assist in creating and maintaining wealth planning structures, including onshore and offshore trusts, foundations, family investment companies, and partnerships.
  • Inheritance Tax Advice: Provide expert advice on inheritance tax, including reliefs, exemptions, double tax treaties, and key planning exercises.
  • Cross-Border Succession Planning: Address legal issues arising from cross-border succession planning, conflict of law issues, and liaise with foreign counsel to develop a global strategy.
  • Tax Residency and Domicile: Offer guidance on income tax and capital gains tax principles, including remittance basis of taxation and reliefs such as split year treatment and overseas workday relief.
  • Trustees and Beneficiaries Advice: Advise trustees and beneficiaries on their rights and responsibilities, including restructuring projects.
  • Mental Capacity Legal Issues: Prepare and register lasting powers of attorney and advise on related legal issues.
  • Philanthropy and Impact Investing: Advise individuals and trustees on using private capital for philanthropic purposes and provide legal guidance to charities on charitable law.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Guide clients on the implications of and compliance with reporting, information exchange, transparency, and anti-corruption initiatives.
  • UK Residential Property Tax Advice: Provide tax advice on setting up, retaining, and unwinding UK residential property holding structures, covering income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, corporate tax, ATED, and SDLT issues.
  • General Tax and Private Client Issues: Address other general tax and private client matters as they arise.
  • Pre-Immigration and Emigration Planning: Offer comprehensive planning advice for clients moving to or from the UK.
  • Trust Creation and Distribution: Develop trust creation and distribution strategies.
  • Multi-National Estate Administration: Administer complex multi-national estates.
  • Divorce-related Estate and Tax Planning: Provide estate and tax planning advice related to divorce.
  • Contentious Trust and Probate Claims: Offer trust and tax advice associated with contentious claims.
  • Charities and Philanthropy: Provide specialized advice on charitable law and philanthropy.
  • Family Owned Businesses and Governance: Advise on family governance and business matters.


Candidate Profile:

  • Experience: At least 6 years PQE with substantial experience in private wealth law.
  • Skills: Strong client focus, excellent communication, and the ability to create new business opportunities.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in managing a team and driving business development.
