Role Overview:


National Bank of Canada / National Bank Financial Inc. London Branch is seeking for a professional for the application of various regulations (e.g. the UK Anti money laundering (AML) and counter terrorist financing (CTF) legislation), compliance standards and policies when opening institutional client accounts in Financial Markets across the various jurisdictions and business lines.


Your team:


In the Counterparty Documentation Centre sector, which is part of the Cross-Sector Activities team, you’ll be in a team of around thirty colleagues and will report to the Manager – Correspondent Banking and Foreign Centres as well as to the Senior Manager – Counterparty Documentation Centre. You will start your role by a six-month training period taking place in our Montreal office, in Canada prior starting permanently in our London office.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Help Financial Markets business lines of the Bank’s subsidiaries and international branches document. counterparties, carry out risk analysis and perform due diligence reviews in compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures, and regulations to which the Bank and its subsidiaries are subject.
  • Act as a contact person for various partners, and within the team, as they perform due diligence reviews of clients/counterparties.
  • Help implement and upgrade controls and tools to achieve high quality standards, and ensure they are applied.
  • Familiarize yourself with any new corporate standards and applicable laws that may affect the sector's activities.
  • Implement and support various projects and mandates aimed at ensuring the Bank’s compliance with banking regulatory requirements.
  • Help draft and update job procedures related to position and sector activities.
  • Carry out the controls put in place to manage the operational and regulatory risk associated with the activities of the position.


Desired Candidate:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and relevant experience within financial markets.
  • Good knowledge of Financial Markets activities, and other applicable regulations.
  • Good knowledge of compliance standards for institutional clients.
  • Good knowledge of Anti money laundering (AML) and counter terrorist financing (CTF) legislation.
