ROLE OVERVIEW

Join GRIDSERVE as a Senior BI Developer to be a critical part of GRIDSERVE’s future success by enabling insights through data. There are huge opportunities for the business to exploit data to derive insights, improve the performance of our charging infrastructure and delight our customers. Our Senior BI Developer and the BI development team will be at the forefront of enabling our future business success in a highly rewarding role for someone who wants to make a difference through insights and analytics.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the evolution of our enterprise data technologies using Azure.
• Lead, manage, and mentor the BI and Data Analyst Team.
• Develop, test, and implement data, reporting, and analytic solutions in Azure.
• Design, develop, and support mission-critical BI applications.
• Translate complex business logic into database design using Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions, Views, and T-SQL.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop comprehensive Power BI models that enhance performance and achieve business objectives.
• Architect and document Power BI solutions integrated with Azure services.
• Write and optimize complex DAX functions in Power BI and Power Pivot.
• Analyze complex data sets and transform them into actionable insights.
• Automate Power BI data refreshes using PowerShell scripts and Azure Automation.
• Create Workspaces and Content Packs for business user access.
• Install, configure, and manage Enterprise and Personal Gateways in PowerBI Service.
• Develop Calculated Columns and Measures in Power BI Desktop.
• Create advanced SQL queries and Stored Procedures for Power Pivot models.
• Optimize table performance through index analysis and enhancements.
• Cleanse data using Derived Columns, Lookups, and Conditional Split.
• Design and develop reports using Charts, Gauges, Tables, and Matrices.
• Create Parameterized, Dashboard, Linked, and Sub Reports.
• Develop drill-down and drill-through reports for multi-dimensional analysis.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and trends to improve processes and systems.
• Assist in other related duties as and when requested by GRIDSERVE® Senior Management.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes, including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001).

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Required experience

• Extensive Power BI report development experience, including dashboard creation and data visualisation.
• Experience as a SQL Developer and BI Developer.
• Strong experience with DAX, SQL, and Azure data services.
• Deep understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and best practices.
• Proficient in database design, interrogation, and programming.
• Expertise in writing advanced SQL, including query tuning and optimisation.
• Expert in creating and developing Power BI dashboards and integrating them with Azure services.
• Proficient in creating and using Stored Procedures, Views, and User Defined Functions.
• Experience with creating Sub-Queries and joins for complex queries involving multiple tables.
• Strong data modelling experience using ER diagrams and dimensional data modelling.
• Experience with developing U-SQL scripts for processing large data sets in Azure Data Lake.
• Proven experience working with large data sets and optimizing data processing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse data, identify issues/opportunities, and design pragmatic solutions.

Required qualifications and certifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field desirable.
• Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) or equivalent industry qualifications*
• Microsoft Azure AI Engineer Associate desirable
