Copper Engineer – Network Installation – Contract

Location: Reading, Berkshire

IR35: Outside IR35 £150-£250 per day depending on experience

Clearance: SC Clearance / Eligibility for UK Government SC Clearance mandatory

Start Date: August / September

Duration: 3 months with extensions likely


Due to expansion of a critical project, we are actively recruiting experienced Copper Engineers to join a key client in Reading, Berkshire. The client is part of an active MOD programme which will require applicants to undergo UK Government Security Clearance to SC Level, which will include a thorough background check. The role will be onsite, and on a fortnightly shift pattern.


Key Skills / Primary Responsibilities:

  • Network cabinet installations
  • Primary & secondary containment system installations
  • Installation of fibre / Cat6 or Cat6A horizontal cabling solutions
  • Termination, testing & labelling of fibre / Cat6 / Cat6A solutions
  • Network switch installation
  • Copper patching
  • Experience of terminating copper/fibre cabling (Category 6/A)
  • Experience of testing copper/fibre cables using OTDR / Fluke Testers
  • Good knowledge of current installation practices
  • Ability to work as part of a close team to high standards of workmanship
  • Experience of running cables internally and externally
