Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with expertise in data discovery at the field level to join our financial services team. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, and IT teams to identify, understand, and map data fields that are critical for business insights. This role involves ensuring data accuracy, optimizing data processes, and supporting financial decision-making through detailed data analysis.


Key Responsibilities:


Data Discovery & Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough analysis of data at the field level to discover patterns, trends, and anomalies.
  • Identify key data sources across financial systems, including customer data, transactional data, and other financial data repositories.
  • Work closely with data owners and stakeholders to ensure proper understanding of data lineage, metadata, and field definitions.
  • Develop data dictionaries and documentation for data fields used across various financial systems.


Business Requirements Gathering:

  • Collaborate with business units to gather, document, and prioritize business and technical requirements.
  • Translate business needs into detailed data discovery requirements, focusing on financial metrics and KPIs.
  • Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to ensure data alignment with business objectives.


Data Quality Assurance:

  • Validate the accuracy and completeness of data fields through data profiling and cleansing activities.
  • Work with IT teams to ensure data integrity, applying data governance practices.
  • Define data quality rules and thresholds for financial data sets to support business decision-making.


Reporting & Insights:

  • Generate reports and dashboards highlighting field-level data insights for various financial services teams, such as finance, risk management, and operations.
  • Use tools like Excel, SQL, Power BI, and Tableau to present data insights and trends.
  • Support senior management with ad hoc data analysis to drive financial insights and operational efficiencies.


Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as a liaison between the business units and the IT/data teams, ensuring smooth communication and understanding of business requirements.
  • Present findings and recommendations based on data analysis to senior management and stakeholders in non-technical language.


Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a strong focus on data discovery and analysis.
  • Prior experience in the financial services industry is a must.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Excel, and financial-specific systems (e.g., Bloomberg, SAP, Oracle Financials)


Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in the context of financial data.
  • Proficiency in data discovery and field-level analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work with complex data sets and identify key insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate technical details into business terms.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding data quality and accuracy.


Technical Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with data discovery tools, databases (SQL), and financial reporting software.
  • Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
