We are working with an industry-leading company that is seeking a Senior RF Engineer to join their growing team in Cambridge. The company designs and delivers advanced RF and microwave technologies for applications ranging from specialist equipment to large-scale telecommunications and defence systems.


Job Purpose

The role focuses on the design and development of RF and microwave components and systems, ensuring they meet electrical performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability requirements.


Key Responsibilities

As a Senior RF Engineer, you will:

  • Design and develop RF/mmWave sub-circuits, modules, and systems for telecommunications and defence applications.
  • Work on the specification, simulation, and realization of RF elements such as filters, couplers, transmission lines, and synthesizers/multipliers.
  • Collaborate with mechanical design engineers to integrate electromechanical concepts into your designs.
  • Work with the electronics/PCB design team to create high-frequency PCB layouts and support electronics.
  • Analyse system performance, including RF chain line-up and thermal performance, to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain design documentation such as design logbooks, technical data packs, and reports.
  • Verify and validate designs through testing, preparing test specifications and reliability testing reports.
  • Provide support during the introduction of new products into manufacturing, including troubleshooting and diagnostics.


Requirements

To succeed as a Senior RF Engineer, you should have:

  • A degree in RF/Communications Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency with RF design tools such as Microwave Office, ADS, CST, or EMPro.
  • Experience in RF/microwave circuit and system design, including tolerance analysis and design for manufacturability.
  • Familiarity with transceiver and high-frequency product design.
