Work with diverse communities, support exciting projects, and play a key role in celebrating 50 years of Jacksons Lane

As the flagship arts and cultural venue in Haringey, Jacksons Lane hosts a year-round programme encompassing the best in contemporary circus performance, arts participation activities, cultural education, and outreach work for both its community and the sector as a whole.

Jacksons Lane is seeking a new Heritage Engagement Assistant to join our team.

This role is to support Jacksons Lane’s Heritage Engagement Manager to deliver a range of Heritage Engagement programme exploring the Jacksons Lane archive and development of our 50-year oral history project. This position will work across our Heritage Engagement programme leading up to and during our 50-year anniversary, working with older adults, children, young people, and families, as well as intergenerational programme, and may lead on specific programme and activities.

Responsibilities

Participation engagement

  • Assist with the organisation of heritage engagement projects and events, including participant engagement and recruitment of participants via phone calls, emails, and face to face contact.
  • Assist with the promotion and marketing of projects.
  • Deal with enquiries for heritage engagement projects including signing up new participants to projects and ensuring they have the correct information required to take part.

Event organisation and support

  • Support on the organisation and delivery of heritage socials, heritage open days and our 50-years of Jacksons Lane library tour.
  • Support on the administration of our public memory gathering project, including collating memories and generating social media posts.
  • Provide support and cover at projects and events both at Jacksons Lane and off-site as and when required.
  • Support on the administration of the wider heritage engagement programme, including young people’s programme, as required.

General

  • Establish and maintain good relationships with all visitors to Jacksons Lane including project beneficiaries, visiting companies and audiences.
  • Ensure that all activity is undertaken with due regard to health & safety and licensing regulations.
  • Ensure that all income is handled in accordance with financial procedures (training provided).
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions when required.
  • Act as a representative of Jacksons Lane always.
  • Act always in accordance with Jacksons Lane’s Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities & Diversity policies in addition to all other staff policies and procedures.
  • Carry out any other task, as may be reasonably requested by the Heritage Engagement Manager, Head of Creative Engagement, or executive team.

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential

  • Basic administration skills with Microsoft suite.
  • Keen interest in developing a career within the heritage and community sector.
  • Keen interest in the work of our Creative Engagement department.
  • Passion for making arts and heritage more accessible.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation.
  • Friendly, polite and willing to support colleagues in a small but dedicated team.
  • Able to work with and engage people from different backgrounds and lived experience from your own.

Desirable

  • Experience of working/volunteering with an arts or heritage venue.
  • Knowledge of arts and cultural venues within Haringey.
