The Multi Domain Mission Support System (MD MSS) is a Command, Control, Communications and Computer Intelligence (C4I) system for the support of military operations. The MD MSS is used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and Royal Navy for operational information and enhanced situational awareness.

The current MD MSS IVV team requires additional resource to manage the generation, management and execution of onsite testing of software development and software deployment to customer sites.

The IVV Engineer will report to the IVV Team Lead and Engineering Delivery Manager (EDM) and will undertake the following duties:

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

• Write, manage and execute integration test scripts for the software solution.

• Write, manage and execute verification test scripts for the software solution.

• Deliver Integration and Verification activities and evidence to prove the compliance against requirements.

• Conduct scripted and unscripted testing and report the results.

• Generate and modify simulation and configuration data for testing.

• Liaise with systems/software team in the resolution of bugs and issues.

• Manage defects on allocated project such that integration and verification risk is mitigated as early as possible within the development programme.

• Perform informal and formal systems tests as per the test descriptions both independently and in front of customer representatives.

• Formally record and report test results in required reports and databases.

• Raise issues using software reporting tool (JIRA).

• Attend reviews and meetings as requested.

Skills

• Good time management skills. Able to organise and prioritise own work.

• To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite toolset.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Work well within a small team but also happy to work alone (sometimes long periods) when completing tasks.

• Be comfortable with working with colleagues from all engineering disciplines.

• Be proactive and have a positive attitude

• Be curious and willing to ask questions to find answers.

Essential

• Valid SC clearance.

• Willing to work up to 4 days a week on site (Templecombe).

Useful but not essential

• To have a working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence.

• To have a working knowledge of DOORS and how this tool is used to facilitate successful change management and acceptance.

• To have a working knowledge of test tools (automated test tools desirable) and test data generation techniques.

Experience

• Experience of working within a Systems Engineering environment.

• Experience gained in either a systems design or IVV role, with demonstrable, practical experience of these - preferably on complex software centric projects.
