Key Responsibilities

  • System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain UNIX servers (e.g., Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, Linux distributions) across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance enhancements.
  • Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain shell scripts or other tools to automate administrative tasks and improve system efficiency.
  • Backup and Recovery: Manage system backups, disaster recovery plans, and ensure data integrity across all UNIX systems.
  • Security Compliance: Implement and maintain security best practices, including user access controls, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
  • System Upgrades and Patching: Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
  • Incident and Problem Management: Provide Level 2/3 support, resolve incidents promptly, and document solutions for recurring issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including application developers, network engineers, and database administrators, to support projects and operations.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, procedures, and policies.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Technical Expertise:
  • Proficiency in UNIX/Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, AIX, Solaris).
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python).
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of storage solutions and SAN/NAS integration.
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience as a UNIX/Linux Engineer or Administrator.
  • Experience with enterprise-level IT environments and high-availability systems.
