A leading energy business is seeking a highly skilled middle office specialist on an interim basis to contribute towards the implementation and UAT of a new CTRM for its Gas and Crude Trading activities and as well as global marketing activities including the migration of a portfolio of trade activities into that new system captures.


Job Summary:


You will play a key role in supporting trading and middle office functions during the migration to a new CTRM system. The ideal candidate will have experience in P&L management, trading capture, and a strong understanding of gas trading markets.


The role requires proficiency in programming languages, particularly VBA, and advanced Excel skills to develop and implement process automation and enhance data analysis capabilities.


Primarily focus will be:


  • UAT of P&L, P&L explain & position reporting and risk management tools in Aspect CTRM
  • Migration of New Gas trading portfolio from legacy system of an acquired business into Aspect CTRM
  • Implementation of new price curve building tools
  • UAT / build out of Trade lifecycle tools for system integration with new CTRM including: curve marking tools , eco firm tools, integration with back office / nominations tools
  • Build out of Power BI Reporting Tools: Assist in the Design and Build out of a suite of power BI reporting tools for P&L, Market Risk and Hedge reporting to sit over the new CTRM being implemented.


Responsibilities:


CTRM System Migration:

Collaborate with IT, trading, and middle office teams to support the migration to the new CTRM system

Provide expertise on CTRM system functionalities, particularly for gas trading

Contribute to the development and execution of migration plans, ensuring minimal operational impact

Perform system testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure successful migration and integration of the CTRM system.


P&L Management and Reporting:

Oversee daily P&L reporting for trading activities, ensuring accuracy and reliability

Investigate and analyze P&L discrepancies, providing actionable insights and recommendations

Work with middle office teams to enhance P&L reporting processes within the context of the new CTRM system.


Trading Capture and Data Management:

Ensure accurate capture and recording of all trades in the CTRM system

Validate trade details and resolve discrepancies promptly

Maintain the integrity of trade data, including data reconciliation and validation.


VBA Programming, Excel, and Process Automation:

Develop and maintain VBA scripts to automate data processing tasks and improve efficiency

Utilize advanced Excel functions for data analysis, modeling, and reporting

Collaborate with traders and analysts to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation

Implement and document VBA-based solutions to streamline operations and support decision-making.


Middle Office Support:


Serve as a liaison between the trading desk and middle office, ensuring effective communication and coordination

Support middle office functions, including risk management and trade settlement, during the CTRM system migration

Assist in redefining middle office processes to align with the capabilities of the new CTRM system.


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Experience of CTRM / CTRM migrations
  • Experience in Gas and Crude markets and associated derivative valuations
  • Strong understanding of the end to end lifecycle and events of trading activities and related processes and controls
  • Experience in middle office, market risk, trading or related roles in the energy or commodities sector
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, derivative products, and risk
  • management principles
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret
  • complex data and trends to make informed decisions.
  • Advanced excel is a requirement, VBA/programming/quantitative skills would be a bonus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
  • communicate complex concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
