My client are a privately owned, SME business established over 40 years ago. Supplying products to a number of well-known customers across the UK, they are a leader in their industry and looking for a strong Financial Controller to join the business, bringing finance back in-house with a clear progression plan to Managing Director over the next 2-3 years. We are looking for a qualified Accountant with strong commercial experience who is keen to work in changing business


Role:

  • Brining finance in-house, utilizing accounting system
  • Producing monthly management accounts across 3 subsidiaries
  • Ownership of monthly balance sheet reconciliations (bank and cash, accruals, deferred income, trade creditors)
  • VAT return preparation, overseeing Payroll for up to 30 staff
  • Managing external relationships across year end, VAT and payroll
  • Working with Directors on driving business performance and potential growth opportunities
  • Implementing and embed key financial controls and processes across the business and implement a continual improvement approach to all systems/processes in finance
  • Dealing with the senior leadership team as a sounding board for financial and operational advice, providing commercial input to strategic decision making and day to day operational matters
  • Responsible for financial forecasting and budgeting.
  • Providing financial analysis to support decision making on new products/services/agreements


Experience:

  • ACCA/CIMA qualified with proven experience in an SME environment essential
  • Strong commercial acumen with a desire to be MD in 2-3 years
  • Hands-on, commercial approach, Payroll experience advantageous
  • Experience implementing processes/updating systems desirable
