We have an interesting opportunity for a Production Leader to join our team at Ross Ceramics in Trentham.

Ross Ceramics is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Rolls-Royce group. We manufacture precision ceramic cores that form part of the investment casting process.

Your role as Production Leader here is a significant leadership role that requires a wide range of skills to deliver to our customers and drive lean improvement through great engagement while leading a team of talented people.

You will lead a large team who are manufacturing amazing products and play a critical part in delivering to our customers. You will work collaboratively across a wide range of functions and be responsible for integrating their activities to deliver on time every time to the right quality and cost.

What you will be doing:

You will lead a team of talented people and will also:

  • Lead, inspire and recruit the team to deliver excellence through brilliant 2-way communication.
  • Coaching and performance management of the team to achieve their full potential.
  • Deliver the customer requirements through robust production load and capacity planning.
  • Meeting budget and ensuring availability of resources to meet the customer schedules now and in the future.
  • Ensuring that quality is at the heart of the way we operate.
  • Ensuring our people go home safely every day by driving compliance to our health and safety standards. Assessing and pro-actively managing risk.
  • Embracing Lean leadership behaviours. Driving day-to day improvement activities like 5S and longer-term lean projects to enable continuous improvement in the performance and the way we operate.

Who we are looking for:

  • Experience in leading large teams of over 40 people. Ideally, you have led teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Attended higher education/equivalent and leadership development programmes.
  • Experience of leading transformation projects and familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and lean (Green or Black belt accreditation would be beneficial).
  • Good record of delivering improved manufacturing performance in both favourable and unfavourable conditions, utilizing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience of leading people change within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrating ability to respond at pace, to changing demands through robust planning and control methodology.
