UK, UK, United Kingdom Technikraft Full time

Technikraft is the driving force behind successful brands in the automotive, household and industrial cleaning, hand care, and cycling sectors. Fusing science with speed, we go beyond conventional formulating—crafting chemistry that powers brands to innovate and grow, whilst meeting the evolving needs of consumers and the planet. We have a proud technical heritage and are seen as problem solvers irrespective of the application or industry.

We are looking for a development chemist to research, create and develop products, from household/industrial cleaners and cosmetics to industrial rust preventives. A love of practical and independent work, scientific curiosity, and an ability to solve technical problems are all critical for the role. Regular direct customer contact will help determine the briefs of projects and continues through development to final product approval. Technical support to the operations department and QC will also be expected, both when scaling up new products and helping to address any production issues.

You must have a chemistry degree, or related science withe laboratory experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Research and develop new and existing products to meet customer requirements
  • Organise and carry out product testing e.g. performance, stability, compatibility, competitor analysis
  • Meet with customers and communicate regularly about their requirements for product development, or any issues with current products
  • Keep records of project progress, updating interested parties when required
  • Talk to suppliers to find new raw materials that offer technical and commercial advantages
  • Review alternative raw materials for use in production
  • Prepare and despatch samples of formulations to the customer
  • Produce and amend production scale batch formulations, and set product specifications
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure lab work scales up smoothly to production blends
  • Support investigations into non-conforming materials
  • Support other departments with your technical knowledge, in areas such as sales, safety and quality
  • Supporting with regulatory enquiries and SDS authoring (online/off-site training provided)
