Overview of role

This is a very exciting opportunity to join a leading Sustainability Consultancy in the Built Environment. This will be a pivotal role in the Nature Team to work towards delivery of leading Nature work with Tier 1 clients. The primary purpose is to ensure that biodiversity is not just protected from harm through development and other land management actions, but is actively enhanced, above and beyond minimum policy and legislative requirements.


Role responsibilities and requirements

• Independent day to day management of simple projects

• Assists in the delivery of more complex projects, surveys and assessments according to your experience in the following areas: Preliminary ecological appraisals (including UK Habitat Classification methodology), protected species surveys, Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments using the Statutory Metric, Ecosystem Service Analysis, BREEAM Land Use and Ecology Assessments, mapping using QGIS, bat sound analysis, Infra-red camera footage analysis, habitat management, natural capital assessment reports, nature improvement plans, habitat management plans, green-infrastructure design and mitigation strategy design.

• Support other members of the Nature Team by writing reports and proposals

• Peer support and helping to train junior members of the Nature Team

• Contribute as a member of larger projects teams (both within the Nature Team and the wider business)

• Assists and/or shadows in attendance at client meetings and/or project meetings

• Independently writes simple reports


Key skills and qualities needed

• Graduate (MSc desirable) in a relevant scientific degree (ecology, environmental science, geography or similar)

• Minimum of two years relevant experience

• Associate member of CIEEM (or equivalent)

• Highly organised and motivated individual

• Working knowledge of IT (Microsoft office programmes including word and excel)

• Excellent report writing skills

• Enthusiastic about nature conservation

• Excellent time management and organisational skills

• Client care experience and skills
